Day 38 | Serving & Our Connection with God
Serving is a discipline that flows out of our connection to God. When we are connected with God, the natural effect is to serve as Jesus served. The week of serving comes at the end of our 40 day journey. That is appropriate, because if you have followed along with us through this journey, the flow of serving should hit you in stride.
Mark 10:43 says,
“Whoever would be first among you must be a slave of all.”
This is an unnatural idea for us. Our culture, our mindset and the world tell us to get what is ours. Self-interest is inherent within us. But the idea of being first or greatest begins with serving and becoming a slave runs contrary to that.
It has been said that serving flows out of being. This is true. God motivated and God connecting service of people comes from real and deep connection to God. The serving that Christ did when he left perfection, to come and live in this broken world in order to save rebels who would deny, abandon, forsake and betray him…is only done through connection to God the Father.
Today begin to pray for that sort of connection. Today begin to think about someone who you see or sees you as an enemy and serve them. Pray for connection to God to give you what is needed to carry it out.
Have a great day.
