Day 39 | Serving out of our abundance
One thing that is clearly and consistently addressed in both the Old and New Testament is the care of widows, orphans, the poor and needy. Today, we can think like Jesus thought by serving someone in this area.
Jesus served out of his abundance into a place of need. I think our call should be the same. Do you have a lot of money? Serve by giving that away. Do you have a skill in construction or handy work? Serve in that way. Do you love kids? Find a single mom and volunteer to watch her kids. Do you have a love for working in the yard? Plant some flowers for an older neighbor. Do you have a lot of free time? Find someone who doesn’t have a lot of free time and ask them if you can run some errands for them.
The point is to think about how God has given you something in abundance or has wired you to enjoy and find a way that this can match up with someone in need in that area. This is how the church is supposed to work.
God will bless these things as you serve. Have a great day.
